A blog post is any article, news piece, or guide that's published in the blog section of a website. A blog post typically covers a specific topic or query, is educational in nature, ranges from 600 to 2,000+ words, and contains other media types such as images, videos, infographics, and interactive charts.

There are numerous steps one can follow to create an effective and engaging blog post, leaving their audience satisfied and coming back for more, these steps include:

1. Understand Your Audience: The most important part when starting any blog is understanding your audience, as this is how an author knows what topics to write about and what will keep their audience engaged and thus guaranteeing consistent readership. It is important to know what the audience wants to know about and what will resonate with them the most. For instance, if your readers are millennials looking to start a business, you probably don't need to provide them with information about getting started on social media as they already have a grasp on that. Instead inform them on how to take a more tact and professional approach to their online business which they may find helpful.

2. Check Out The Competition: It’s worth taking a look at the more popular blogs that generate high traffic because their strategy and execution is what got them to grow in credibility and readership. This strategy isn't to copy these blogs and their formula but to rather gain a better insight into what readers appreciate in a quality blog and give you a template when creating your own. One should examine the visuals on these blogs and how they use colour and visuals to their advantage as well as the topics covered and how they resonate with the audience.

3. Identify Your Unique Angle: Try to present a new and unique perspective that will help you stand out from the crowd, this is key to determining the trajectory of your blog’s future and there’s many avenues to choose in the process. These can include What problem will you solve for readers? Will you share your opinions on trending debates? Teach your readers how to do something? Compare or share original research? Etc.
