Advertising on social media today is an incredibly cheap and effective way to promote your brand and the product/service you are providing, it is also readily accessible and does not require much technical knowledge to set up, thus more and more small and bigger businesses are using these platforms to advertise their product, this can create an excess of content being marketed and thus companies will have to stand out in order to be noticed by their target audience, there a few tips they can follow, such as:

Use The Right Platform: Depending on your target audience, choosing the right social media platform to market your product is key, for example, if you are a clothing company that is targeting a younger audience to market your wares, you would be better served advertising on Instagram rather than Facebook as the age demographic varies between the two and you will find a younger audience on Instagram.

Mix The Media: A social advertising campaign doesn’t necessarily have to stay online, companies with the budget can opt to mix their advertising with traditional media, for example companies can choose to have their social media accounts implemented onto media such as television ads, on newspapers and fliers, and can have them advertised at places such as football matches or on billboards, this will lead potential audiences to their social accounts which will expose them to their advertising campaign.

Use Video: Rich media such as videos have become a staple in online ad campaigns, Consumption of online video is increasing and it represents a fantastic opportunity to bring your ad to life. People want ads that are alive, bringing entertainment and exciting content to our day to day browsing online. For brands, this represents an opportunity and a challenge. The issue of course is that you’re not going to be the first brand to run an online video ad – advertisers have been doing this for years now. But the opportunity lies in the fact that brands now must act as entertainers. It’s time to have a bit of fun, laugh at yourself, and find ways to shock your viewers. Good content alone however won’t bring your video to life online. Don’t underestimate how much work you’ll need to put into distribution and seeding, with ad campaigns specific to video, running on Youtube for example.
